Programs

Wondering what PTA does? Why it holds fundraisers? Enfield PTA supports the school; its staff, families, and students; and the Enfield community through literacy programs, learning opportunities to supplement classroom instruction, family events, celebrations and community building. We also show our appreciation for all that school staff do for our children and families.

Literacy Initiatives

The PTA supports literacy by bringing books into the school as often and as much as possible. In addition to an annual contribution to the school's library, made possible through fundraising programs, each child receives a gift each year in the month of his or her birthday through our Books for Birthdays program. We also sponsor, coordinate, and staff two Book Fairs during the year. The Book Fair not only gets children excited about books, but helps PTA ensure that each teacher has an in-class library for reading throughout the school day.

Learning Opportunities

Programs like Junior First Lego League, a fall-semester robotics learning challenge associated with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), engage students with specific passions to explore their academic interests beyond the school day. And in the spring, we sponsor the Enfield Lego Club, a weekly meet where students and their parents can come out and build together.

Family Events

Want to experience what your child is learning? Interested in a fun, family-night out? Why not attend the PTA-sponsored Science Night (with interactive exhibits brought to the school by the Ithaca Sciencenter) or other events throughout the year. Watch the announcements for upcoming events.

Celebrations

PTA loves to celebrate the wonderful community of learners at Enfield School! Through the annual Holiday Breakfast, goodies and small gifts to students at the Moving Up Ceremony, the end-of-the-year Community Picnic. We also produce an annual yearbook to make the memories of each school year last.

Community Building

New to Enfield Elementary School? Connect with PTA members to find out more about the ins-and-outs of the school year. New Kindergarten students are invited to meet new friends before school starts through our Summer Play Dates, and each family receives a school directory early in the school year so that families can keep in touch with their child's classmates.

School support

Whenever there are events at the school, PTA helps ensure safety by helping parents follow the check-in/check-out procedures. Classroom Liaisons also help keep the lines of communication open and help PTA plan for new programs that would bring exciting opportunities to all students. Teachers receive funding to explore new or unique classroom materials that would help them achieve instructional goals. And finally, we celebrate school staff each spring during National Teacher Appreciation Week by serving up a delicious Staff Appreciation Luncheon, complete with door prizes!

Programs only happen with volunteers support, so be sure to visit our volunteer page to find out how you can bring these programs to life! Also, be sure to support these programs through the fundraising activities of the PTA.
