Our Enfield Eagle Now Has a Name!

posted Apr 3, 2018, 8:43 PM by Enfield Elementary PTA   [ updated Apr 3, 2018, 8:44 PM ]

We finally have a name for our new mascot! The final votes have been counted and recounted and the name chosen is SOAR! Welcome to Enfield, Soar! We hope you will be an inspiration to everyone at our school!

The process started with a suggested name from each classroom. Then, PTA members voted for three top names from the list, and those three were put to a final student vote. At the April PTA meeting we counted the student ballots. It was close--Soar won by five votes!

Did you know that Enfield PTA is an independent nonprofit organization? To stay in good standing, we need a full slate of officers leading the organization, and PTA only works because of volunteers like YOU!

Are you interested in helping out? Elections for executive officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary) are being held June 5, 2017, and we still have positions to fill.  If you are interested in the position of SECRETARY (especially!) please let us know. Information about the duties of all the positions is available in the PDF attached. Contact PTA at for more information.

Seed Your Spring!

posted Mar 28, 2017, 5:24 PM by Enfield Elementary PTA

Now that the "Blizzard of `17" has mostly melted away, and Mud Season has re-started, we here in Enfield know it's time to start thinking about planting for the spring. Whether it's a vegetable, herb or flower garden, we're all looking forward to warmer weather, less gray and a lot more sun. This year, your PTA is sponsoring a seed sale from Urban Farmer. These seed packages are designed to be successful and are inexpensive too. We will be sending a flyer home with your child tomorrow announcing the sale, which will run for two weeks and end on the 12th. Please have a look at the catalog, choose some seeds if you like, and help your school in the process.

Proposed Budget Adjustment for 2016-2017

posted Mar 17, 2017, 7:10 AM by Enfield Elementary PTA

At the March 6, 2017 meeting, Principal Rieger requested PTA funding to enable all students in grades 2-5 to participate in the Ithaca Youth Bureau's Marathon Miles Program. The approved 2016-2017 PTA budget did not, at the time, have a category of funding that would enable PTA to provide this kind of subsidy. A new budget category had to be created to facilitate this contribution. The proposed budget change is in the attached document. Areas highlighted in yellow have been reduced to accommodate this request. The area in green is the new budget line. Members have been asked to vote on this change via SurveyMonkey (there was not a quorum of members at the meeting). To be clear, the requested amount for the Marathon Miles program was not expected to exceed $750. However, additional monies were allocated to be able to fund future requests.
